I'm in high school band. It's really fun. During the summer I do marching band. Here we are waiting for the start of a parade:
| Band at ease (not at attention) |
Other than band, I'm interested in horses (I ride them when I have time), collecting model horses (collecting WHAT? Don't be so confused, I collect Breyers), watching Star Wars, building stuff with Legos, doing homework, and practicing trumpet (that is what I play in band). I also did competitive irish dance but there's not much to say about that because it wasn't fun. I'm probably the only person at my school in the class of 2019 that owns a flip phone (thanks a lot for pointing that out, Nick- whatever. You did, however manage to write an excellent review of the 1996 Romeo and Juliet movie! I applaud you). I don't like Shakespeare at all, except when I can laugh at it. For weird but not totally unexpected reasons I find certain upperclassmen that play trumpet at my school attractive. If given the chance to date Leo DiCaprio I would turn him down and give him a good slap across the face instead- or something equal to that. I am picky.

| Seriously...like, what. Do you guys know if this is from Titanic? (Seriously, do you know? Because I do not.) ...I'm getting really tired of watching that now. |
Here are some other things:
Favorite music: Other than band? U2, The Police, Yes. 80's music. Also Coldplay and select songs from Imagine Dragons.
Spirit Instrument (more on these in an upcoming post): Trumpet
Favorite Movie: Star Wars (the originals, mind you, not episodes 1 thru 3; Episode 7 was good.)
Spirit Animal: Horse (probably a Thoroughbred/Arabian/Mustang mix)
Favorite class(es): Band (of course) and Math
Favorite books: Seabiscuit: An American Legend and William Shakespeare's Star Wars (yes, this is a thing! Look it up!) and The Strange Case of Origami Yoda
Favorite toys: Legos, Breyer horses, model airplanes, trumpets (joking, but they're fun), sketchbooks, various plush horses and other animals. I never outgrew toys.
Best summer vacation: Band camp. If that's not available, then a California beach would be good. Or the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho. Or Florida, for the sun, or Kentucky, for the horses.
Most embarrassing moment: My very first day ever of marching band. I got there late and went and stood on the wrong side of the section, next to the 1sts instead of the 3rds. After we finished the first warm-up, our section leader, Sam, asked me to stand at the other side of the section. I was glad of this, as the 1sts are considerably better than me. Still, how was I supposed to know where to stand?
Best band event: [upcoming] trip to Hawaii! Read more about it here. Other than that, I was super happy that I got to join my school's band program even if I was 3 years late.
Pet peeves:
- when people talk while the drum major's talking.
- when the drum line makes mistakes.
- when my trumpet's spit valves leak and get spit all over my jeans.
- when people assume that I'm a woodwind or string player.
- when homework takes over my entire weekend.
- when people are loud on the band buses.
P.S. I have friends in band that have blogs, too! Check them out here:
Danielle - Whitney - Sam (she's in percussion, but that's good enough) Emily - Syscilia
